Women Who Suffer From Migraines Are More Likely To Have Depression
Man with chronic headache, in particular migraines, are much more inclined to suffer from depression disorder, feel worn-out, and have a host of other strict physical symptoms, according to a clinical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical trial involved 1200 woman who buy cymbalta at headache clinics in nine countries. Of the people surveyed, 112 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches monthly) and 767 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were tested with migraines.
The medical trial found people with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also six times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among man diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the clinical study found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms can provoke or be a manifestation of major Psychotic Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Psychotic Depression could heighten pain perception,” said study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Depression suggests a common neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can provoke poorer result for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The clinical trial was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American people suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 16000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating patients care through instruction and clinical trial. A neurologist is a doctor specialized on monitoring, curing and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as blow, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and frequent sclerosis.
