Sharing the Blame: Is it users of SEO software or is it Google?

I admit. Before finding out about SEO apps and website marketing industry, I was of the opinion that Google was great. I Googled anything from friends, to images, to news to strange objects and naively trusted the results. Then I learned about SEO tools and a new business specializing in website marketing, and my convictions were never the same. But even prior to my discovery, having done a bit of introspective analysis, I got a feeling that search engines, Google included, know far from everything, and share with the users even less than what they know.

My search escapades soon convinced me that Flikr is a more comprehensive image search source, that with the assistance of RSS I can get great current events coverage without having to rummage through Google search retrieval (rummaging seems more descriptive than Google search), and human search is best administered by Facebook. It seems like whenever I look for odd objects on Google, the results are often inaccurate, to put it kindly. Try searching for SEO tools and other SEO relevant subjects on Google and you are almost prepared to surrender your self-control. I mean, tell me, what’s the connection between SEO software and employment sites or online casinos? Gladly, in my distress.

So when news of free link building software and the entire field built around it entered my modest worldview, my doubts about webpages landing on page one of Google grew manifold. Do they merit to be there and whose fault is it, Google or site promoters using SEO products. The moral quandary is vast. Do I quit using my SEO rank checker or do I stop using Google instead? I concluded that I can’t boycott Google just yet. At least not until the worthy contender enters the game. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will continue using my SEO programs.

Frankly, SEO programs is the reason why people like myself get found online. intelligent as they are, Google web bots are not likely to find some no-name guy and index his site highly. In this regard, I am an unyielding advocate of SEO programs and natural search. If it was all about the cash, the corporate businesses would squish me before I knew it. And there are 1000 businesses on the Fortune roll! But here is something else that irks me and other backlinks checker users, I am confident. There are guys who invest in SEO apps and use them to sell shoeson employment sites and the like. What we have is litter that not only takes over the net but is also highly valued by search engines.

What is the user reaction to this? People search for SEO software reviews and will instead find unrelated content. They get disillusioned. So much for the “Internet equality”. Does this mean that SEO program and service industry is harmful? Not necessarily.

The abusers of SEO apps need to stop polluting the Net but it’s like asking hackers to stop hacking. The sad side about it is that black hat SEOs are overusing the opportunity to be noticeable on the Net that is given to the no-name guy like myself. For now users just have to treat them. One can only hope that Google will put more emphasis on spotting the schemers abusing SEO software, and if Google doesn’t, the big Google will.
